Beam is Gab's Business Intelligence platform. We use the data collected by Beam to improve how we do things.

When you open a Gab News HTML email, the Gab logo in the footer is requested from this server. We increment the open counter for the message letting us know that someone saw it. A token is used to ensure that only one count is given per message and that the request represents a valid message that Gab News sent.

This information is used to help Gab validate the effectiveness of it's outreach and communication. Not clicking on a URL in the email is you voting for Gab to include less of that in the future. Clicking a link is you voting for Gab to include more of that kind of content in the future.
